Nisqually frost - Jeanette

Ever since we did the class on macros I have been intrigued with close ups. The recent frosts have also been particularly beautiful so last Sat. morning I went to Nisqually

I got there at 8:00 a.m. at sun-up. As I was walking from my car I heard this voice in my head saying "tripods, people, tripods" so, of course I had my tripod. It was 20 degrees and I had to hold my breath when I looked in the viewfinder or the entire back of my camera would condense. Even so it was a beautiful morning.

I am very disappointed and sorry to have to miss tonight's class. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone's portfolio.

The Wimpy Frozen Photographer's Fairly Limited Collection of NIght Photos

Shot during class last Wednesday using my 18-200mm lens at 200 mm and the "recipe for success" (minus the 2x converter & mirror lock up): f/16, 1/30 sec, ISO 100, tripod, auto WB, remote shutter release. Nothing remarkable except it is the moon and the detail is fairly sharp.

Creative technique: instead of zooming while shooting, I tilted the camera horizontally using the tripod lever.

A cropped version of a shot using the technique described above.

Maureen Holiday Lights

I wimped out on the cold and went to the Capitol and to a westside neighborhood.

Field Trip

Christmas lights

It takes a lot of time when you start to notice everything because then you have to shot it all. I saw the lights reflected from the Christmas tree when I looked out the window.

Tree lights

I went home to warm up in a dark house. These are my partially decorated tree taken today. If you look close the reflection in the ball is me with the camera and tripod.

Windy & Cold Holiday Light Pictures

I left the bigger group & went to the Capitol Building rotunda until I got kicked out because they were closing up. Then I went home & started taking pictures in my neighborhood. Unfortunately it was so windy that the lights would not stay still! Here are some of the pictures I took.
